Home Vigils

Nyx Funerals offers home vigil support and coordination, helping families and chosen families spend time with their person in the comfort and familiarity of home.

A home vigil can provide a gentle space to acknowledge the reality of a death, gather together, and begin the process of saying goodbye in your own time and in your own way.

Nyx works in partnership with a funeral home experienced in supporting home vigils, can coordinate the practical arrangements, including transport to their/your home, a cooling bed and equipment, and transport back to the funeral home when the vigil comes to an end.

I can also support you to create and navigate the vigil itself — whether that means simply being present, helping to shape the time together, creating ritual, or tending to the practical and emotional complexities that may arise.

With specialist training in grief, trauma-informed practice and somatics, and my background as a social worker and funeral celebrant, I bring a calm, grounded and relational approach to this work. I can also assist with appropriate care of your person during the vigil.

You don't need to know how to do this. I can help you create a space where you can simply be with your person and with each other.
